Creating local accounts for your Windows 10 pc is a very easy task. Many of us that did a clean install of Windows 10 setup or accounts during that process. While others of us who did an upgrade had all there user accounts carried over. So now why would we create new local user accounts? Let’s find out below.
Why creat local user accounts?
So why should we do this? The first reason that comes to mind for me is to separate your administrative account. Your admin account has full control of your machine. Constantly using that admin account increases the risk to our Windows 10 machine. To avoid this you want to have a local user with standard privileges. Another reason I can think of is to have a user account not associated with all the Microsoft extra features. This is good for user that don’t want them and also for kid accounts. So it is good to have these accounts for these specific reason. Now let’s get started.
Create local user account in Windows 10
To get started we will need to open the Settings window. To do this we can press the Windows+I keys or open the start menu and click the cog below your account picture.
Locate the Accounts menu item and click it.
In the next screen click Family & other people, then navigate on the right and click on Add someone else to this PC
A new window will open, here you will be asked to enter in the person’s Microsoft account. Instead, locate I don’t have this person’s sign-in information and click it. T
The following screen will ask you to create a Microsoft account. Ignore this and click on Add a user without a Microsoft account.
Next enter the user account information, name password, etc. To finish up click Next to continue.
After clicking next you will create a new account and that account will be added under Other people.
The only step next is to log into your new local user account.
